The trenches

Updated OCTOBER 6, 2026· Fullport Capital

Definition

In crypto, the trenches means the earliest, most chaotic layer of memecoin trading: fresh launches still on their bonding curves, minutes or hours old, where a few coins run hard and most fade. Trading the trenches means scanning new pairs and judging dev wallets and bundles in seconds.

Where are the trenches?#

On the launchpads' new-coin feeds, and on the "new pairs" and "about to graduate" columns that Solana trading terminals build on top of them. Coins there are still on a bonding curve, have a handful of holders, and can move several-fold in minutes. See bonding curve.

Once a coin graduates to a pool and builds a holder base, most traders would say it has left the trenches. The slang on this glossary comes from there: ape, jeet, degen, dev wallet, bundles, snipers.

What trading the trenches costs#

  • Thin curves. Little SOL behind the price means your own order moves it the most here.
  • Fees. The venue fee on a pump.fun curve trade is about 1.25% each way.
  • Speed. Bots and bundlers act inside the first block, so manual traders work with slightly later prices.
  • Coin quality. Check holders, the dev wallet and bundle share first; see rug pull.

The trenches reward speed and preparation in equal measure. How to trade memecoins covers the routine, and pump.fun's bonding curve shows the math.

Trading trenches coins with Fullport#

Curve-stage coins from pump.fun, Raydium LaunchLab and Meteora DBC are tradeable, and the terminal's New feed lists coins still on their curves. Each order is priced from a fresh read of the curve, so fills match what the chain would give you.

Trade them in Fullport's browser terminal, or with Fullport Tap on the terminal you already use, and keep 80% of payouts every 5 days. See the token rules.

Quick answers

What does it mean to be in the trenches?
It means trading brand-new memecoins at the launchpad stage, usually minutes or hours after launch, where information is thin and prices move fastest. Traders say it with the same mix of pride and complaint as a soldier would.
Can you trade trenches coins with a funded account?
On Fullport, yes, for coins from pump.fun, Raydium LaunchLab and Meteora DBC, on the curve and after graduation. Every order is priced live from the coin's own curve or pool, with price impact included.
What are the pump.fun trenches?
The stream of brand-new pump.fun coins still trading on their bonding curves, before graduation to PumpSwap. Terminals show them in new-pair and about-to-graduate columns, and only some of them reach graduation.
